Pasture Raised Pork

We sell our hogs whole, half or by the quarter based on their hanging weight, plus a processing fee based on the same hanging weight, which is charged by the processor. Hanging weight is the weight of the carcass after the animal has been eviscerated.

Typically our hogs are raised until they are 7-9 months old and weigh approximately 250 – 300 lbs live with an average hanging weight of 180-200 lbs. A whole hog will yield approximately 120 – 130 lbs of meat, a half hog is typically 65 – 75 lbs of meat, and a quarter is typically 35 – 45 lbs of meat,. There are many variables that play into the actual finished weight such as the size of the hog, and how you choose to have the meat processed and packaged.

Current prices for fresh pork orders is $3.75 per pound hanging weight

Price per pound is the same whether you order a quarter, half or whole hog.
We require a $200 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit for a full hog order, $100 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit for a half hog order, and a $50 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit for a quarter hog order, which is applied to the total cost of the hog. After harvest, a final hanging weight will be provided to us by the processor and you will be invoiced for the remaining balance.

We use Matt's Custom Meats located in Kelso Washington, because of their humane methods and superior service. At the time of harvest, we transport the hog to their facility for processing, cutting and vacuum packaging and placed under your name. Once they take possession of the hog you will be responsible for communicating to them how you wish to have your hog processed and cut for half or whole hog orders. For a quarter hog, we order standard cuts and curing.

The processor's fees are in addition to the actual purchase of the hog from us. The processor's fees for a whole hog are approximately $60.00 harvest fee, and $ .72 per pound (hanging weight) plus additional fees for any smoking, sausage making, etc. These fees must be paid directly to them for whole and half hogs when you pick up your meat, but we will add the processing fees to our invoice for quarter hogs. Please be aware that the meat will be frozen and packed in boxes, so plan accordingly when picking it up. A whole hog will typically fit into a 5.3 cu ft freezer.

Estimated total cost
Our price for a whole hog is $3.75/lb based on final hanging weight. A typical hog hangs at 180 lbs, so our price would be $675 and the processor's fees would be $129.00 for a total of around $804.00 for a 180 lb whole hog or $402.00 for a half hog and $201.00 for a quarter hog.

The typical yield of a whole hog is about 125 lbs of classic cuts and about 35 lbs of oddments such as bones, tail, head, fat, etc. This comes out to a typical price of about $5.05/lb.
